We always talk about tools we can use or mindsets we can have to improve our productivity, but we haven't talked about how our environment affects us. If you're not comfortable when you're working, or are too comfortable, you won't accomplish as much if you were just the right amount of comfortable. The chair you're sitting in, how your office is laid out, the room temperature and brightness, and noise volume all affect your comfort and therefore have an effect on your productivity.
Making sure your employees have a nice work environment also helps improve their work satisfaction. It's hard to be happy if you're always too hot or too cold or when your colleagues around you are so loud that you can't hear the person on the other end of the phone. As humans, we feel great satisfaction by accomplishing tasks that we set out to do. It increases our happiness and our drive to do more.
